Kocoono™ is the brainchild of Emer Flannery, an Irish Entrepreneur with a background in Psychology and more than nine years of experience in various care sectors both in Ireland and abroad.

Back in 2011, she made the first prototype for a child with autism. Years later, after a bout of sleep deprivation, while working in the homeless services, she designed the first Kocoono™ Weighted Blanket for personal use and developed Kocoono into the business that it has become today.

Kocoono™ was officially formed in 2019 with a very successful Kickstarter campaign , raising four times the funding goal needed to commence manufacturing Kocoono Weighted Blankets.

Ireland has been the company's biggest market so far, but Kocoono Weighted blankets have now been shipped to more than 10 countries from our main Warehouse in Galway (Ireland) . Due to the growing demand in the UK, Kocoono decided to expand into Northern Ireland and have located a second Warehouse in Newry. Thanks to the presence in Northern Ireland, Kocoono can establish closer ties with their UK clients and assuring fast and free shipping within 2-4 days

About Emer Flannery CEO & Founder of Kocoono

Emer has worked in psychology for the last 9 years, in various care sectors both in Ireland and abroad.

Emer is extremely passionate about Positive Psychology and likes to focus on what is right with people rather than what is wrong. She made her first Weighted Blanket for a child with autism who she worked with in 2011 after a year studying in Liverpool, UK. It was some time after this however before Emer realised that she too would benefit from a self-soothing tool like Kocoono™.

After studying for a year in the UK, working as a behaviour therapist for children with autism in Saudi Arabia, working with persons experiencing anxiety, depression, chronic insomnia and other mental health issues in Australia, Emer decided to return to Ireland to work in the homeless services and then began to experience her own bout of sleepless nights which led her to create her very own Kocoono weighted blanket.

Emer immediately felt the positive effects and began spreading the word to her friends and family and soon she was inundated with requests to make more Kocoono™ weighted blankets.

What does make Kocoono™ Weighted Blanket Unique?

Each new Kocoono™ saw little tweaks and variations as Emer looked to improve on her original design until she ended up with the current Patent Pending design.

Emer’s own experience and the feedback she received has lead features like the neck fit which allows you to feel the pressure on your shoulders without uncomfortably bunching of the blanket around your neck. The removable weights means the blanket can be used by people with different weight needs, it allows for the blanket to be machine washable and it also means that you can add the inner weighted bands to the freezer to cool you down or provide relief to muscle pain and hot flushes.

Emer knows too well the frustration and negative effects sleep loss can have on your life and is overjoyed that something she has designed can bring relief and joy to others and help them fall in love with sleep again.

Luxe 9 kg Royal purple blanket

I highly recommend this blanket. I quickly reach a parasympathetic state of deep breathing and quality rest within mere minutes. I wonder why I didn't purchase it sooner. Kocoono weighted blanket

I bought the 7kg blanket for my daughter who has Autism. She absolutely loves it and at times when she is anxious she sits and cuddles it around her. She even takes it to bed and sleeps much better because of it. Really good quality blanket and thank you.

Weighted Blanket

Hi folks, I got the blanket for my teenage son as he finds it hard to settle at night and is up early for school. It is working a treat. He loves it. I try and use it during the day to ground myself. It is difficult to journal with a blanket. I would love you to make a really long jacket that I could use while meditating and journaling. Thanks so much. I love that it’s Irish.

An excellent product

I bought a kokoono blanket for my son which he found comforting & calming so I picked up a sleep mask too which he found really good but lost on his travels! I surprised him last week with a replacement as he’s lining abroad & he was delighted to see it. He found it very effective for settling down to sleep.

The Dreaming Blanket that I wish was a little bigger

It is lovely yes, and I am mostly sleeping well. However it is not big enough to fit a double bed. It seems to me more one for a single bed. Why is this?

Gorgeous blanket

I bought the higher end weighted blanket some time ago and I absolutely love it. It’s ready nice to lie under for yoga relaxation and meditation. I suffer from anxiety, low energy and depression and it feels really soothing and nice to pull this over me on the sofa when I’m feeling low and just want to watch tv. Haven’t tried to wash the cover yet but good to have the option.

Eye Mask Amazing results

I was surprised at how well this works when I don't use it, I have a restless sleep. Highly recommended! Clients have said it helps with twitching eyes. I have a few of their products! I highly recommend 👌

Second blanket purchased

Hi, we had such a great experience with the first kocoona blanket that we bought this bigger one as he got bigger. It is well made and straightforward to take apart/reassemble for cleaning. My son will now reliably sleep through the night after years of worsening night time wakenings and long periods of insomnia. I was sceptical but at my wits end but now I highly recommend.

Improved the whole households sleep!

My 10 year old sons sleeping habits and by extension ours was transformed by this blanket. His frequent nighttime wakings even when exhausted was disturbing him and the rest of the family. From the first night he slept better, telling me in the morning “I still woke up a few times but was able to go back to sleep”. Normally he would wake up and be fully alert and couldn’t settle himself. This blanket has been brought this on holidays with us and is still so soft and comfortable after washing. We wouldn’t be without it, I already bought another one to be sure.

Excellent quality product and better sleep

I purchased a Kocoono luxe blanket a while ago and I'm delighted with the quality and health benefits. It's still like new after several washes (it's machine washable - a bonus!), really comfortable and has definitely improved my sleep. I've since bought an eye mask and will be buying a Kocoono as a gift for a family member. A well deserved 5 stars!

I love my Kokoona blanket. I have the hug version. I think that the 'neck hugs' would benefit from velcro on the weights and cover, to stop weights falling down into outside corner.
